No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
Discover what No Data Corruption & Data Integrity is and how it could be beneficial for the files in your web hosting account.
Data corruption is the damage of info due to various software or hardware problems. Once a file is corrupted, it will no longer function correctly, so an app will not start or shall give errors, a text file can be partially or entirely unreadable, an archive file will be impossible to open and then unpack, etc. Silent data corruption is the process of data getting damaged without any acknowledgement by the system or an administrator, which makes it a significant problem for hosting servers as problems are more likely to occur on larger hard disk drives where large volumes of information are stored. If a drive is part of a RAID and the information on it is duplicated on other drives for redundancy, it's more than likely that the bad file will be treated as a regular one and it'll be duplicated on all the drives, making the harm permanent. Lots of the file systems which operate on web servers nowadays often are not able to identify corrupted files instantly or they need time-consuming system checks during which the server isn't functioning.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Web Hosting
We warrant the integrity of the info uploaded in each
web hosting account that is created on our cloud platform due to the fact that we employ the advanced ZFS file system. The latter is the only one that was designed to avert silent data corruption through a unique checksum for each file. We will store your information on multiple NVMe drives that work in a RAID, so the exact same files will be available on several places at the same time. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all the files on all of the drives in real time and if the checksum of any file is different from what it should be, the file system swaps that file with an undamaged version from some other drive inside the RAID. No other file system uses checksums, so it's possible for data to be silently damaged and the bad file to be reproduced on all drives with time, but since this can never happen on a server using ZFS, you don't have to worry about the integrity of your information.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers
Your
semi-dedicated server account will be shielded from silent data corruption since all of our storage servers use the reliable ZFS file system. What makes the latter unique is that it employs checksums, or digital identifiers, so as to verify the integrity of each and every file. When you upload content to your account, it will be stored on a couple of redundant drives being employed in a RAID i.e. the files shall be the same across all disks. All the copies of a particular file will have the same checksum on all hard drives and ZFS will compare the checksums of the copies right away, and if it registers a mismatch, that will indicate that one of the copies is damaged, it'll substitute that file with a healthy copy from one of the other disks. Even if there's a sudden power failure, the data on the servers will not be corrupted and there will not be any need for a time-consuming system check which other file systems perform after some malfunction, lengthening the time needed for the server to go back online. ZFS is the file system that can really protect your content from silent data corruption.
