Each registered domain name has no less than 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a specific hosting provider. In this way, you have got both your site and your emails handled by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the site for a given domain name and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you type a domain in your Internet browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you may be directed to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain name. Having independent records for the site and the emails means that you may have your website and your emails with 2 different companies if you wish.
Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting
If you have a web hosting through our company, you're going to be able to see, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a given Internet domain has our Name Servers, you'll be able to modify specific records using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or emails pointed to any other provider if you want to use only one of our services. Our advanced tool will allow you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name at all. If you want to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they want you to set up more than 2 MX records, you can easily do this with simply a couple of mouse clicks in the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.
Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
With the semi-dedicated servers that we provide, you will have complete control over the records of all domains and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and changing any record requires simply a couple of clicks. If you decide to switch your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can change the required record and direct your domain to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still continue using the other one through us. You can also keep the main domain name here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you're changing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the default two we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each one.
